Acts 247 Mission & Vision
We wanted to take a moment to share with you our vision for ACTS 247. First and foremost, this is God’s mission! We depend on Him and Him alone. We realize that deep down we have nothing to offer God but our uninspired, rebellious and disobedient lives. The only thing that we bring to the table is our sin that makes salvation necessary, and “Salvation belongs to the Lord” (Jonah 2:9; Ps. 3:8).
The Good news is that our God delights in using broken people like us, to reach broken cities like ours. In order to advance the gospel in Alaska, we will need more courage, patience, strength, tenacity, and generosity than we can possibly muster up on our own strength. Our lack of resources and our limited capacity is why we desperately need God’s Spirit in our primary mission which is to reach the most sordid places in our STATE.
We want to be apart of a move of God that is so powerful that it can only be attributed to God. In the words of our Lord Jesus, we want to “Let out lights shine before others, so that they may see our good works and give glory to our Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
Our Primary Purpose: To see the Gospel of Jesus Christ FULLY transform the lives of those who have struggles with addiction, homelessness, and incarceration.
THE MISSION: to Praise God, gain favor with all people, and see revival in the darkest places of our city and state.
We believe that this vision and mission can best be accomplished through CHRIST-CENTERED GENEROSITY, RELATIONAL EVANGELISM, intentional discipleship, AND sacrificial SERVICE TO THOSE who are still suffering.
It is important to note that the lost and broken are not only the homeless, addicted, and afflicted. Any life that is lived apart from Christ is lost and broken. Alaska needs a clear and powerful proclamation of the Gospel. We are praying that ACTS 247 not only equips believers to become missionaries In Alaska, but we are praying also for those who will be reached through the faithful proclamation of the Gospel.
We want to “go to” the lost and broken and abandon the comfort found in consumer Christianity. We believe that when the aim is mission first, that we can effectively foster the mission and also achieve a strong form of community. There is nothing more relational than a church on mission.
our state is desperately in need of the Gospel of Christ. “How will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘”How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”’ (Romans 10:14-15)
